T8 Sherpa Shorts: The Best Running Shorts You've Never Heard Of

I’ve had my first pair of T8 Sherpa Shorts since 2020 – and they’re still going strong. For something so lightweight and minimal, that kind of longevity is rare. But honestly, that’s what these shorts are all about: no fuss, no bounce, and built to handle real-world running.

I’ve worn them on everything from road sessions and trail training runs to big efforts like the Spartan Ultra Beast 50km and all the races in our Mountain Goat Trail Series. Anytime I don’t want to wear a pack – but still need to carry the basics – the Sherpas are my go-to.

Here’s why I rate them:

  • The waistband storage is unreal. I usually stick a soft flask in the front, my phone in a ziplock (to keep the sweat off) in the back, and a few gels on the sides. It all fits tight with no bounce.

  • There’s even a little key clip inside, which is perfect for peace of mind on longer solo runs.

  • They’re super breathable, which matters a lot if you’re training in the heat or humidity. I’ve never had an issue with them feeling heavy or soaked.

And while most running shorts come with built-in liners, I always pair these with the T8 Commando underwear. They’re light, breathable, and way more comfortable – no heat build-up, no chafing. It’s a combo that just works.

If you’re someone who wants to move light, stay cool, and still carry what you need, the Sherpa shorts (and the Commandos) are well worth trying. They’ve earned their spot in my rotation – and I reckon they’ll earn a spot in yours too.
